Angie Zumaran & Scott McDonald – Casa Salsa Studios

Artist Profile

Angie Zumaran was born and raised in Lima, Peru, and has been dancing from a very young age. Since she was a kid, she was always involved with performing arts: dance, music and theatre. Angie moved to California in December 2001 to attend College. She joined the Pasadena City College Salsa Club, where her love for Salsa started. After transferring to Cal Poly University in Pomona, CA, she joined the Ballroom Dance Company. With the Company, she performed at halftime college basketball games and several dance concerts. She attended the US National Dancesport Championships 2007 and with the team scored first place on the Formation Competition. Through social dancing she discovered Bachata and fell in love instantly. Before moving to South Florida, she started teaching Salsa On1, and she quickly knew teaching was her calling. She moved to SoFL on January of 2011, where she learned to dance Casino and On2 styles, and continued learning Bachata. Angie has a huge appreciation for any type of dance, and has a really good ear for music! Her passion for dance and teaching is bigger than she ever thought, and wants to be a source of positivity and inspiration to her students.

Scott MacDonald was born and raised in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Ever since he could remember, music always played a major role in his life; and with a half Cuban half American background, there was always a personal connection when it came to Salsa. Scott discovered his passion for dance in college when he joined the Corazón Dancers, a collegiate student team at the Florida State University in Tallahassee. After 1 year of being trained in on1 Salsa, he took a leadership role within the team as the Rehearsal Director for the next 2 years where he trained the new coming students and also taught Salsa to the community of Tallahassee on a weekly basis. Within Corazón, Scott took opportunities to perform with his team all around Florida as well as Las Vegas, Boston, and Puerto Rico. After receiving his degree, he has decided to follow his biggest passion and enter the dance industry where he plans to teach, perform, travel, and share his love for dance with whoever he comes in contact with.
